Licensed, dedicated Lower School Spanish teacher needed at IC Imagine Charter School in Asheville.  

 

The teacher is expected to plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive Spanish program for K-5 students and prepare experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. The teacher should also be prepared to provide leadership and coordination, as well as facilitate the efficient operation of the Spanish program and collaborate with the Spanish department and grade level team.

 

Salary based on IC Imagine’s Certified/ Licensed Teachers Salary Schedule.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate extensive knowledge of K-5 Spanish curriculum and TPRS/Comprehensible Input (CI) methods or commitment to acquire CI knowledge
• Demonstrate an eagerness to collaborate with Spanish and grade level team
• Participate in Standard Based Grading practices
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners
• Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to the positive school climate
• Prepare and deliver appropriate instruction for intervention and enrichment groups
• Frequent oral and written communication with parents and families of Champions
• Frequent oral and written communication with colleagues and administrators
• Manage inventory and repair of instructional resources and equipment
• Use resources necessary to plan, implement, and evaluate instructional practices necessary to follow the guidelines of the NC Standards for all courses taught. 
• Design instruction appropriate for all students that reflects an understanding of relevant content and is based on continuous and appropriate assessment.
• Collaborate with other collegiate leaders, support staff and the IC Imagine community to enhance the educational opportunities for all students.
• Follow the processes laid out in the faculty handbook, respond to emails in a timely manner, keep grades updated weekly, and correspond regularly with families with pertinent information for courses taught.
• Perform additional duties including, but not limited to supervision during non-instructional time, attending after-school events and meetings, participating in enrollment activities during and leading into the Open Enrollment period.
• Adhere to all legal and ethical requirements of the teaching profession and set an example for others to do the same.

Skills and Abilities:

• Familiarity with TPRS, PQA, Movietalk, instruction with novels and TV and other Comprehensible Input techniques
• Skilled in problem solving and decision making as well as observation, listening, and coaching
• Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
• Maintain effective working relationships
• Possess strong time management skills
• Ability to prioritize workload and multitask in a busy environment
• Proficiency with GSuite

Education and Experience:

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree 
• Valid North Carolina teaching license
• 1 year teaching experience preferred

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, squatting, reaching and bending
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times
